Welcome to your

personal skincare journey,

where science creates

healthy beautiful skin.

Real

Solutions,

Visible

Results.

Skin Rejuvenation

Utilising clinical grade treatments, recommended topical nutrition and home care, positive change can be induced in the skin.

With topical ingredients; conditions such as photo-aging, acne, rosacea, hyper pigmentation and general impaired skin function can be treated successfully.

On your skincare journey I can offer real solutions through effective skin treatments, nutrition and care with visible results in a step by step personlised plan.

Skin Care Planning

Effective homecare accounts for 80% of change in skin if clinical grade nutritional products are used at correct doses.

It is advised that a 2 week preparation period and programme is followed prior to initial treatment.

This will be discussed at the initial assessment consultation.

Initial Consultation

(Complimentary with product purchases)

Working together with you a treatment plan will be developed to give you the best skin health possible by:

  • Assessing your skin state and correctly diagnosis skin issues
  • Selecting appropriate treatment & maintenance regimes
  • Choosing the right nutritional products for your skin and budget
  • Developing a personalised Skin Care Plan

Your Skin Care Journey

  • Building and reinforcing new daily skin care habits

  • Adapting treatment by learning what works best for you

  • Reviewing progress and results and refining a maintenance programme

Your skincare plan is refined and customised during the course of treatments to achieve your desired goals.

Clinical Treatments

Following initial consultation  - assessment & diagnosis, skin care planning you receive a recommendation of clinical grade topical nutrition  - essential components in the skin such as Vitamin A & C are always depleted in UV exposed areas (ie. the facial skin). Consequently we can achieve amazing results by manipulation of these key ingredients.for home care.

Your personalised skin care plan is then supplemented by effective clinical treatments with visible results including:

  • MediFacials
  • Derma Plane
  • Metabolic Peels
  • Needling - Collagen Induction Therapy
  • LED Phototherapy - Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)

To achieve a clear, vibrant, healthy skin we need to create a healthy skin cell utilising combinations of the above treatments.

I work from home in a comfortable and tranquil environment. Enjoy your treatment by candlelight often with the warmth of a wood fire in winter.

MediFacials

MediFacials

MediFacials are an introductory level clinical treatment. Enzymes are applied in a mask to first exfoliate; a secondary Vitamin Infusion mask providing nutrition to skin cells follows.

Derma Plane

Derma plane leaves the skin looking luminous with a beautiful, almost reflective finish. It provides exfoliation helping to decongest the skin and removes the vellus or fine downy hair. It is a comfortable treatment administered with a fine blade. Treatment ideally needs to be repeat monthly. If the skin is in suitable condition, it can be used in conjunction with peels, enhancing absorption, improving results

Peels

Metabolic Peels

Peels vary in type and strength depending on skin type and desired outcome.

Metabolic peels not only exfoliate, they also increase hydration and correct cell dysfunction by normalising the cell, reduce pigmentation and induce collagen production. A customised course of peels is essential and will vary depending on individual goals and skin type. Peels may be administered two to four weekly for best effect.

Appropriate peels will be selected during treatment including:

  • Lactic Milk derived mildly exfoliating antibacterial peel encouraging cellular hydration
  • Benefit (VitaminC) A low acid, high dose Vitamin C & A peel providing antioxidant protection, DNA repair & increase cell production
  • Salicylic - An aspirin derived antibacterial exfoliating cleansing peel
  • Jessner - A combination of lactic rescinol & salicylic peel
  • Cosmedix Timeless - High dose Vitamin A complex (30% AGP) providing general DNA repair inducing collagen & lightening pigment
  • Cosmedix Elite Timeless - Intensive Vitamin A complex (40% AGP) providing intensive DNA repair inducing collagen & lightening pigment

Layered Peels

Individualised peel layering maybe necessary for advanced treatments to enhance peel effectiveness. This will be discussed during treatment plan.

Needling

Collagen Induction Therapy

Scientifically proven to be one of the best ways to increase production of a healthy type of collagen without producing scar tissue. The treatment will start the process of progressively improving skin texture, tone, pore size, fine lines, pigmentation, diffused redness and scar tissue.

There are two types of needling that induce collagen production:

  • Dermastamp
  • Roller

Single Treatments

Micro needles perforate the capilliary network releasing a cascade of growth factors that start the wound healing process. New collagen will be produced at approximately 3 months and continue up to 18 months.

Course of Treatments

For optimum results it is necessary to have a minimum of three treatments 6 to 8 weeks apart.

LED Phototherapy

Low-level light therapy (LLLT)

Is the therapeutic use of incident light to photomodulate cellular function, stimulating blood flow to targeted skin cells. The HEALITE II uses light emitting diode (LED) light to enhance your bodys cellular recovery, improving healing times, relieving pain, subsiding active acne, promoting skin rejuvenation and more.

THE 8 BEST ANTIOXIDANTS TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN IN 2019

I am constantly reminding my clients of how damaging UV is for our skin, and how to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. Sun damage can cause permanent DNA changes to the skin cell, which - at best - can accelerate aging, and - at worst - cause skin cancer.

To reduce your chances of developing accelerated aging – showing up as dry and dehydrated skin, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and uneven skin texture – as well as an increased risk of skin cancer, we recommend the following suggestions:

• Use good quality sunscreens that contain antioxidants and are appropriate for the activity you are doing or lifestyle that you lead
• Reapply your sunscreen at least every 2 hours.
• Wear wide brimmed hats
• Limit your sun exposure
• Use an antioxidant-rich serum

Many antioxidants occur naturally in the skin as one of our natural defence mechanisms. They are also responsible for aiding in many physiological functions. Exposure to UV radiation (UVR) from the sun can break down these antioxidants by between 26-93%, leaving the skin extremely vulnerable to DNA damage and disabling its ability to function normally.
Here are 8 antioxidants to include in your regime both topically and orally.

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C):
Why? Vitamin C is a strong antioxidant which reduces existing damage to the cells.
Stimulates collagen-producing activity in the dermis (active part) of the skin to strengthen skin.
Offers photoprotection – the biochemical process that helps skin protect itself from sunlight at a molecular level.

Vitamin E:
Why?
Vitamin E is anti-inflammatory, and complements the photoprotective effects of other antioxidants.
Vitamin E also has properties which stabilise the skin barrier, helping reduce skin damage and reducing water loss from the skin that leads to dehydration.

Lycopene:
Why?
Protects against UV light-induced erythema (redness).

Carotenoids:
Why?
Offer photoprotection.
Reduces UV light-induced erythema and damaging free radicals.

Retinoids (Vitamin A):
Why?
Reverses damage to the DNA while increasing the production of ‘good’ collagen (Collagen Type 1) and reduces the effects of skin aging due to sun damage (called photoageing).

Coenzyme Q10:
Why?
Prevents photoaging, protects against the death of the skin cells due to free radical damage (also called oxidative stress) and enhances the function of skin cells in both the dermis (active layer of the skin) and epidermis (outer protective layer of the skin).

Resveratrol:
Why?
Highly potent antioxidant – great for adding hydration and glow to the skin.

Niacinamide:
Why?
Protects skin cell DNA which helps reduce against further fine lines and wrinkles, and is anti-inflammatory to reduce decolouration and redness.

Handy hint: If you accidentally do get sunburned, use an antioxidant rich cream or serum and apply lavishly and repeatedly over your sunburned skin for the next 24-48 hours. Using antioxidant serums on a daily basis may also help protect your skin from sunburn more than if you didn’t use regular antioxidants. For example, Vitamin C is active in your skin for up to 36 hours after application, and gives you the equivalent of an SPF 8. We still recommend you use sunscreen as well, especially in NZ, but every little bit helps!
Here are my favourite antioxidant-rich products to keep you covered this summer.

1) Cosmedix Elite Pepoxide

2) Aspect Dr Multi B serum

3) Aspect Dr Active C serum

4) PCA C&E Advanced serum

5) Cosmedix Peptide Defence (Sunscreen) - liposomal sunscreen for longer defence, loaded with peptides and antioxidants

6) Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection (Sunscreen) - a great way to reapply over make up with its powder formulation attached to an easy to apply brush with high amounts of zinc and titanium.

HOW TO COMBAT WINTER SKIN DRYNESS

What happens to our skin during winter?

Winter can bring on some negative skin changes for most of us due to contrasts and extremes in temperature. Cold external temperature followed by indoor warm internal temperatures has a physiological effect on the skin. These fluctuations in temperature can exacerbate transepidermal water loss - transepidermal water loss is the amount of water that passively evaporates through the skin to the external environment.
This process starts to affect the skin's barrier function which is fundamental to skin health; the skin's barrier is comprised of lipids from both epidermal cells and the sebaceous glands. With a disruption in these finely, physiologically balanced components, the skin not only starts to feel dry but can become susceptible to bacteria and viruses, as well as impacting normal healthy skin function which relies on enzymes interacting, or communicatimg, in a well-hydrated environment. This effect can create a cycle where the skin then becomes even more reactive to environment and hence more damage occurs in the skin.
This process will occur as a normal part of aging with the accumulation of sun damage but even a well looked after skin, that is fed with Vitamin A and antioxidants, can experience an increase in transepidermal water loss, particularly during winter.

What can we do to prevent winter dryness?
1) Of course, if you’re not already using Vitamin A and Antioxidants, this is an absolute ‘must’ for skin health, so your first step is always to come in for a skin assessment and I’ll get you on your way to great skin by prescribing you medical grade skin care.

2) If you are finding your usual moisturiser isn’t cutting it, try the Aspect Dr Hydrate mask. Apply your usual serums at night and massage a liberal amount of the mask over the top and leave overnight – incredibly effective!

Aspect Dr Hydrate mask

3) One of my recent favourites is the PCA Total Strength serum: an effective combination of Peptides, Epidermal Growth Factor and Hyaluronic acid. Not only do you get the immediate hydrating effect of the hyaluronic acid but also the stimulation of growth factors through peptides, helping to address fine lines and skin thickness.

4) A fabulous way to fast track hydration, and my personal favourite, is an LED photodynamic therapy course (Healite) – 8 treatments every 2 to 3 days – it is quite a commitment but worth every luxuriously, relaxing minute under the warm lights. Not only does it give you an instant ‘glow’ but have the longer-term effects of repair and collagen induction.

5) Add in some high-quality Omega 3 (Fish Oils) 4 – 6000mg per days, spread between meals. This helps maintain those healthy cell interactions in the skin by maintaining those all-important lipids. Rember, not all fish oil is created the same.

What should you avoid to help skin this winter?
1) Poor quality makeup and skin care can cause a ‘wash out’ effect of those essential lipids in the skins barrier by lowering surface tension and often causing low level inflammation that leads to further damage.

2) High Glycaemic Index foods cause inflammation in the skin and the cross linking of collagen fibres. These acid forming foods will also cause glycation of the skin cell membrane which will influence the absorption and transfer hormones, nutrients and oxygen, as well as the elimination of waste which changes the quality of fluids in and around the skin cells.

I wish you all the best with looking after your skin, and health, this winter.
